It wasn’t supposed to happen as it had. One date, that’s all he had asked for. One date at a horrible fish and chip joint downtown, a movie, but they hadn’t made it that far. Too soon a call from the ARC rang, and, much to Charlie’s displeasure, it was all too close to where they were. He had no time to drop Abigail off. No time to get her to any sort of safety. And driving to the anomaly site, he didn’t know what to tell her. She’d been cool with dinosaurs, but… what about rips in time? Would she try and go through it? No, he wouldn’t let that happen. He would rather let himself be trapped again than let Abi get stuck through.
"Stay in the car," he told her for the umpteenth time as he rushed to park the truck and reach behind his eat to grab his EMD. "Stay in the car no matter what. Don’t go outside for a cute dinosaur, for an ugly dinosaur, unless your life is in danger if you stay in this car, stay in this car." he finished loading up the charge pack and gave her a hard look. "I don’t care if you see me bleeding on the ground or hear screams of agony, stay in this car. Abigail, please."
